About The Granola Board

The Granola Board BBS was a 36-line dialup and telnet computer bulletin board system that operated from 1990 until 1997.  The system, which ran Galacticomm's MajorBBS software, offered an extensive file library of DOS shareware, online games, electronic mail services and chat.

During its heyday, The Granola Board offered local dialup service to the Lompoc and Santa Maria valleys.  Granola had approximately 2,000 active user accounts, and offered many opportunities for local residents to meet online and face-to-face.  Unlike today's mostly impersonal ISPs, the operators of the Granola board tried to know the majority of their customers and made a point to know people in person by scheduling regular user meetings, parties and camping trips.
